For decades, the Mercedes E-Class has been the standard when it comes to mid-size luxury sedans. For the 2021 model year, the Mercedes E-Class continues to set the standard with its outstanding style, upscale comfort, and uncompromised design. This may be why the E-Class has been one of the top sellers in the mid-size luxury segment. Also, the E-Class offers a diverse range of powertrains and styles that allows just about anyone to discover an E-Class that is right for them.

The Perfect Ride For...

The 2021 Mercedes E-Class is ideal for those who want a real luxury sedan ownership experience. These days, many mid-size luxury sedans have moved away from the luxury part to emphasize a sporty driving experience. However, the E-Class has not forgotten that a luxury sedan should offer a level of style and specialness. Take the exterior for example. The 2021 E-Class commands presence from the three-pointed star on the grille to the sleek lines along the sides of the sedan. When you step inside the E-Class, you will notice that the interior doesn't compromise when it comes to materials. You are likely to find soft-touch materials, leather, and wood by just about everyone inside the cabin. What you won't find are cheap plastics which, sadly, are become more and more prominent in the luxury vehicle segment.

So who is likely to drive the 2021 Mercedes E-Class? This luxury sedan is ideal for the executive that wants a comforting commute to and from work. Also, the driver can get a little bit of excitement with some of the most potent powertrains. Finally, drivers who want high-tech features will enjoy the MBUX infotainment system.

Drive and Handling

The Mercedes E-Class has always offered several powertrains across its model. the 2021 model year is no different with two excellent powertrains available. The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine offers up to 255 horsepower and up to 273 foot-pounds of torque. This standard powertrain allows the E-Class to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.0 seconds. Fuel economy on the 2.0-liter engine is rated at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. Also, there is the high performance 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbo engine with up to 365 horsepower and up to 369 foot-pound feet of torque. This 3.0-liter powertrain has a 0 to 60 mile per hour time of 4.9 seconds with a fuel economy rating of 23 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. Both the 2.0-liter and the 3.0-liter version of the 2021 E-Class offer Mercedes' excellent 9G-Tronic, 9-speed automatic transmission.

What's New For 2021?

For the 2021 model year, the E-Class has received a mid-cycle refresh. That means you can find lots of updates both inside and out. On the exterior, the styling of the E-Class has been updated. The exterior has received sleeker lines that make the E-Class more aerodynamic than the previous year's model. That also includes updates to both the headlights and the taillights. On the interior, the steering wheel has been updated to give you more functionality and control. Finally, the COMAND infotainment system has been replaced with the MBUX system. The MBUX system is designed to be more intuitive and easy to use.
